Password Recovery for Cisco 1900 Integrated Services Router

Password Recovery for Cisco 1900 Integrated Services Router

Postby admin » Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:11 am

Issue:
There is currently a Cisco 1900 router which is being used in one of our client's office. It's got the right settings for NATing and Site to Site VPNs to their remote offices. The previous IT did not document the settings and whatever passwords that were documented were not able to log into the router.

We need to be able to get into the router as we need to make some configuration changes but we do not want to factory default the router as there are no copies of the router's configurations. If we factory default this router, then the client would be down for a long time while we try to establish all services again without even knowing what was configured in the first place.

Solution:
It is possible to break into the Cisco 1900 Integrated Services Router router and change it's password. After that you can log into the router and BACKUP it's configurations, and then perform the required changes you need.

Cisco has a nice article on how to break into the Cisco 1900 Integrated Services Router.
