Learn How To Program using Python

I want to learn how to program. There are a number of programming languages out there. What is a recommended programming language to learn to start learning how to program?

Answer:
The answer is quite subjective. However, I am finding that Python seems to be used in education quite a bit. A nearby university was offering learn how to program classes for young high school students and they were using the Python programming language in their Mac lab. Also, the Raspberry Pi computer uses the Python language as it's default programming language.
